Prospect Resources Advances Mumbezhi Toward Tier-1 Copper Development

Prospect Resources Builds Momentum at Mumbezhi Copper Project in Zambia

Prospect Resources is rapidly establishing itself as a significant player in the global copper sector through the advancement of its flagship Mumbezhi Copper Project in Zambia.

Located in one of Africa’s premier mining jurisdictions, the project is emerging as a substantial copper development opportunity at a time when demand for the red metal continues to strengthen, driven by electrification, renewable energy infrastructure and growing industrial requirements worldwide.

The Mumbezhi Copper Project is situated in Zambia’s North-Western Province, a region that hosts several major copper operations and benefits from established mining infrastructure.

Access to power, transport networks, skilled labour and processing facilities provides a strong foundation for future development.

Zambia itself is seeking to significantly increase national copper production in the coming years, creating a favourable environment for new projects capable of contributing to the country’s mining growth ambitions.

A major milestone for Prospect Resources has been the continued expansion of the project’s Mineral Resource Estimate.

The latest resource update has increased Mumbezhi’s total inventory to 208.1 million tonnes grading 0.42% copper, containing approximately 877,100 tonnes of copper.

When cobalt and gold credits are incorporated, the project hosts an estimated 1.02 million tonnes of contained copper equivalent at a grade of 0.49% CuEq, highlighting the scale of the opportunity and reinforcing the project’s potential to become a long-life mining operation.

The resource is centred on three deposits: Nyungu Central, West Mwombezhi and Kabikupa. Nyungu Central remains the project’s cornerstone asset and accounts for the majority of the resource base.

Importantly, a significant portion of the resource has now been classified in the Indicated category, providing increased geological confidence and supporting future mine planning and economic studies.

This growing confidence is expected to play an important role as the company advances technical assessments and development planning.

Beyond the existing resource, Prospect sees considerable exploration upside across its extensive licence package.

Recent exploration programs have identified several highly prospective targets that exhibit geological characteristics similar to the company’s established deposits.

Areas such as Chipimpa and Sharamba have emerged as priority targets, while additional electromagnetic anomalies across the broader project area provide further evidence of the district’s mineral potential.

The company believes these opportunities could contribute to substantial future resource growth.

To unlock this potential, Prospect has commenced an extensive Phase 3 drilling campaign comprising approximately 26,000 metres of drilling.

The program is designed to expand known mineralisation, test new exploration targets, improve resource confidence and evaluate additional gold mineralisation within the project area.

Success from this drilling campaign could significantly enhance the scale and quality of the existing resource base while providing valuable information for future development studies.

Metallurgical test work has also delivered encouraging outcomes. Results indicate that conventional flotation processing can achieve strong copper recoveries while producing a high-quality concentrate.

Testing has demonstrated copper recoveries exceeding 95% from fresh ore samples, suggesting that the project may benefit from relatively straightforward processing characteristics.

Such results are considered important as they have the potential to support attractive operating efficiencies and project economics.

In addition to copper, Mumbezhi contains valuable cobalt and gold mineralisation that may provide meaningful by-product credits.

These additional metals contribute to the project’s overall copper equivalent grade and could enhance future financial performance by lowering effective production costs.

As demand for critical minerals continues to grow globally, the presence of cobalt further strengthens the strategic appeal of the project.

Prospect Resources enters this development phase with a management team that has a demonstrated history of building mining projects in Africa.

The company previously developed the Arcadia Lithium Project in Zimbabwe, which was ultimately sold for US$378 million, providing evidence of management’s ability to create value through exploration, project development and strategic execution.

With mining licences already granted, a growing resource exceeding one million tonnes of contained copper equivalent, strong metallurgical results and an active exploration program underway, Mumbezhi is rapidly advancing toward the next stage of development.

As drilling continues and technical studies progress, Prospect Resources is positioning itself to become an increasingly important participant in Zambia’s copper industry and a potentially significant contributor to future global copper supply.
